Jim Henson improvising on the set of The Muppet Movie was pure magic [Video]

As much as we love The Muppet Movie, some of the film’s best material didn’t even make the final cut. Behold some 1979 screen tests conducted by director Jim Frawley, which starred Kermit The Frog (Jim Henson) and Fozzie Bear (the legendary Frank Oz) waxing existential about their lives at puppets. Not only do the puppeteers make up the dialogue on the spot — they also run with their character’s mannerisms. It is wry and totally wonderful. Stick around for later, gut-busting scenes of Kermit and Miss Piggy (Oz again) riffing about the vagaries of Muppet genetics, property values, and romance.

And here’s Fozzie and Kermit just goofing around with some other cast members, including Sweetums. For another hilarious occasion of the Muppets improvising on the fly, see the time Ludo from Labyrinth met Lady Di. [Via Reddit]
